First Peoples Tourism Plan

We’re empowering First Peoples community to develop a self-determined, First Peoples-led tourism strategy for Victoria.

Overview

First Peoples-led experiences is one of the key pillars under the Experience Victoria 2033 strategic plan.

As part of the pillar’s focus, and a commitment in the Visitor Economy Recovery and Reform Plan, we’re developing a First Peoples Tourism Plan.

The primary objectives include:

  • Coordinating and advancing First Peoples tourism.
  • Leveraging and enhancing their participation for economic development.
  • Empowering First Peoples within the tourism industry.

Refreshing the narrative around First Peoples tourism is essential for economic empowerment and self-determination. We want to highlight the rich culture, history and contemporary experiences of First Peoples in Victoria.

Community engagement workshops have now been completed. We're now working on developing policy themes and objectives.

We want to thank everyone who has attended the consultation sessions. Contributions from the regions have been key to help us shape the First Peoples Tourism Plan.

Stay tuned for updates in late 2024.
