Two leading Victorian businesses have been inducted into the Victorian Tourism Awards Hall of Fame at the state tourism sector’s night of nights – the annual Victorian Tourism Awards.
Held Thursday, 21 November, the 2024 VTAs saw Healesville Sanctuary receive a place in the Hall of Fame for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Tourism Experiences, while Urban Camp Melbourne took its place in the Hall of Fame for 3-3.5 Star Accommodation.
The Victorian Tourism Awards are hosted annually by the Victoria Tourism Industry Council (VTIC). Presented this year in partnership with the City of Melbourne, Visit Victoria, Melbourne Airport and RACV Travel & Experiences, the awards recognised the outstanding contributions made by tourism operators across the state.
Some of the other notable award winners on the night were Go Adventure Nagambie that took home awards in both the Adventure Tourism, and Tourism Retail and Hire Services categories.
Local Way Tours won Gold in the New Tourism Business category while Animal Land Children’s Farm in Diggers Rest was recognised with Gold in the Tourist Attractions category.
Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, the country’s largest convention and exhibition venue, claimed Gold in the Business Events Venues category and the Sovereign Hill Museums Association was also recognised for their efforts to bring accessibility to the fore of their work, winning the Excellence in Accessible Tourism category.
Another highlight of the night saw Lucy Dewhurst win the Young Achiever’s Award for her work with the Young Tourism Network as part of the Choose Tourism Grant Program.
All in all, this year there were 96 finalists across 27 business categories.
Gold Winners from the VTAs will now face off against the best of the best from around the country at the Australian Tourism Awards, which will be held in Adelaide on 21 March 2025.
