Creative Melbourne on show at new Sunday market
Melbourne is well-regarded for its fabulous Sunday craft markets, such as the St Kilda Esplanade Market and the Arts Centre Sunday Market, and now there’s the 9” x 5” Quality Makers Market in leafy Ivanhoe, North of the Yarra.
With the works of over 30 local artists and designers on site the Makers Market offers a superb selection of unique handmade quality wares for purchase that include: textiles, sterling silver contemporary jewellery, wearable ceramic art, glass, enamelled and hand-painted jewellery, lamp-worked glass, works on paper, functional ceramic table-wear, wheel thrown stoneware, vases, bowls jugs, handcrafted cards and stationery, mixed media framed paintings, patchwork quilts, handbags, accessories, hand woven, hand spun articles and more.
The markets is held every second Sunday of the month from 10am – 4pm at Banyule Arts Space, 14 Ivanhoe Parade, Ivanhoe.
The market’s unique name reflects the paintings of Heidelberg School artists (Australian Impressionists) on cigar box lids measuring nine by five inches which was shown at the infamous 9 by 5 Impression Exhibition in Melbourne in August 1889.
