Major arts space, the Art Vault, opens in Mildura

Major arts space, the Art Vault

A new privately developed project, designed to support and showcase Australian artists with special focus artists working within the Mildura region.

Located on Deakin Avenue, between Seventh and Eighth streets and in the same block as The Grand Hotel and the regional city's main restaurant precinct, the Art Vault is also close to the city's shopping plaza and one block from the Murray River.

The Art Vault features a large gallery which will feature a program of curated exhibitions, smaller exhibition space available for use by local artists, printmaking, etching and lithography facilities, 10 artist studio spaces, and two accommodation units for artists-in-residence.

The Art Vault’s opening exhibition will showcase, across a range of mediums, the diversity of artists in the local area alongside the work of some of Australia’s better known talents including Dennis Nona, Minnie Pearl and Archibald Prize winner Cherry Hood.

The Art Vault will be opened on Saturday 1 November, 2008 by Julian Burnside Q. C. with Rod Quantock on hand as Master of Ceremonies.
