Get ready, get set, for a feast of the Arts!

One of the world’s most exciting celebrations and explorations of creativity will again descend of Melbourne this month - the annual Melbourne International Arts Festival. The Festival offers an extensive program of dance, theatre, music, multimedia, visual arts, free and outdoor events over 17 days.
From 11 – 27 October, more than 700 international and local artists will perform, exhibit and screen their work in 19 venues throughout the city.
The organisers travel around Australia and the world to bring home the best contemporary work for the festival. This year’s program features artists from as far away as Mexico, Japan, United States, United Kingdom, China, Canada, Spain, Italy, France, Russia and the Netherlands.
The Festival will kick off with a tremendous line-up of opening night events. There is literally something for everyone: from an irresistible sing-along for all in Federation Square to a diverse selection of first night performances and exhibitions.
Highlights of the festival include: The Temptation of Saint Anthony - inspired by the 19th century novel of Gustave Flaubert, this astonishing show is based deeply in the history of African-American music and culture; UK comedian Daniel Kitson’s show c-90 which tells the touching tale of a man utterly bored and disenchanted with life and work until receiving a mystery gift that changes his life; and Laurie Anderson, one of today’s premier performance artists, who brings a number of works to this year’s festival including her latest musical project Homeland.
The famous Spiegeltent will return to Melbourne, hosting a fantastic array of performances including the sweet harmonies of Australia’s own Lou Bennett & The Sweet Cheeks; powerhouse singer-songwriter Toshi Reagon & BIGLovely; didgeridoo virtuoso Mark Atkins in his first ever solo concert; the soulful sounds of Dead Horse Band; and international singing sensation Meow Meow.
