See the best in Australian sculpture on the Mornington Peninsula

The McClelland Gallery+Sculpture Park, located an hour’s drive from Melbourne at the gateway to the Mornington Peninsula, is Australia’s largest and most extensive sculpture park. It has a permanent display of over 60 major sculptures by significant Australian sculptors and is also the host for the McClelland Sculpture Survey and Award, a biennial event which will be officially opened this month by Lachlan and Sarah Murdoch.
Thirty-five sculptors have been selected to participate in the McClelland Sculpture Survey 2007, an exhibition which highlights the diversity and invention of contemporary sculptural practice.
Displayed throughout 16 hectares of bush and landscaped gardens, the McClelland Sculpture Survey 2007 gives sculptors the opportunity to present their works in an outdoor exhibition context. The exhibition is accompanied by a major comprehensive catalogue.
The selected artists are also eligible for the McClelland Award 2007, an acquisitive award valued at A$100,000 (the richest cash prize for sculpture in Australia).
The gala opening will take place on Sunday 18th November from 2pm. Entertainment includes live music, performance, roving artists, food and wine and theentry fee is $35 per person (children under 15 free). Bookings and pre-purchase of tickets are essential and can be made by calling (03) 9789 1671.
The McClelland Sculpture Survey 2007 will be on display at the McClelland Gallery+Sculpture Park from 18 November 2007 to 6 July 2008 and the entry fee is by donation.
