Swiss chocolatier opens sweet school in South-East Gippsland

Set in the magnificent Tarra Valley Rainforest (in South-East Gippsland) against a backdrop that could be straight out of Hansel and Gretel is the brand new Caca-oh! Chocolate School.
Sweet tooth students get to taste their way around the world in a 90-minute chocolate appreciation course run by accomplished Swiss chocolatier/proprietor, Roman Manser.
The course teaches participants how to taste chocolate using the five senses as well as covering the history of this irresistible treat.
Participants receive a certificate on completion of the course and a sample bag of high quality chocolates from around the globe.
Those too stonkered to go home after feasting on chocolate can stay overnight at the gorgeous Tarra Valley Rainforest Retreat (where the courses are held). There are six rooms with ensuites as well as a la carte dining facilities, a guest lounge and outdoor spa.
Two mouth-watering new courses will be added in 2008, teaching skills in praline and chocolate decoration making.
Bookings are essential for the course which costs $55 per person (or $50 for in-house guests or when there’s a group booking of eight or more). Courses run on Saturdays from 2pm to 3.30pm and Sundays from 11am to 12.30pm. Weekday courses for groups can be arranged by appointment.
