The Forest Resort puts Creswick on the map
Tourism in Creswick, located in the heart of Victoria’s Goldfields, will get a boost next March when the brand new Forest Resort opens the next stage of its $200 million development, a 4.5 star Novotel Hotel and day spa, conference centre, and championship golf course in addition to the existing Grand Mercure Apartments.
Located 10 minutes’ drive from historic Ballarat, 15 minutes from Daylesford and the Macedon Ranges and 80 minutes’ from Melbourne, the resort is the result of six years ofplanning and development.
The Grand Mercure Forest Resort Apartments have been operating for over two years while the Novotel Hotel, 1,000-person conference centre, day spa and championship golf course is planned to open in March 2008.
The Forest Resort has engaged international Australian golfer, Robert Allenby, in association with renowned golf course architect Tony Cashmore, to re-design the historic 90 year-old Creswick Golf Course.
The resort is being built in line with an environmental philosophy focused on long-term sustainability of energy and water conservation. The new water treatment plant will be one of the first of its type in Australia and has been approved by the Environment Protection Authority (EPA).
Visitors to the resort will be able to enjoy a drink at the hotel’s Spike Bar and fine dining in the signature restaurant or at the all day dining café. The health and wellness centre will feature a sauna, spa, massage and gym facilities.
Visitors to the resort will enjoy easy access to Ballarat’s popular attractions including Sovereign Hill, the Ballarat Fine Art Gallery, the Eureka Centre, the Ballarat Wildlife Park as well as the spas, restaurants and wineries of Daylesford located 15 minutes’ drive from Creswick.
