Victorian microbrewery tours take off!
Scruffy Bunch Tours is a small Melbourne-based tour company started by two young ex-industry beer and wine enthusiasts – Greg Cuthbert and Don Pople. After two years running winery tours they are now offering Victoria's first guided day tours of microbreweries.
The microbrewery tours focus on the Yarra Valley and include meetings with brewers, tutored tastings of boutique beers and lunch at a microbrewery restaurant.
Don Pople explained “Since the success of our winery tours and our accreditation by Better Business Victoria it took over a year of our spare time tasting craft beers and meeting brewers – we like to call it research and development – to get our Scruffy Bunch Microbrewery Tours up and running.”
“Our microbrewery tours allow us to support an industry which is still in its infancy here in Victoria, and we are keen to provide a link between both locals and visitors to Victoria who want to know more about how, where and who is brewing craft beers they are now embracing so keenly,” said Greg Cuthbert.
Scruffy Bunch Microbrewery Tours operate every Saturday for the general public and throughout the week for private groups.
The company's winery day tours visit several wineries in the Yarra Valley and include a gourmet two-course lunch. Tours feature a relaxed approach to wine appreciation with hands-on experiences including wine blending, sampling wines from the barrel before it is bottled and learning all about how the wine's flavour profile develops.
