A touch of Asia
Visitors to Melbourne have the opportunity to engage in Asian history and culture via two blockbuster events opening in March – Miss Saigon, one of the most successful musicals in the world, and The Great Wall of China: dynasties, dragons & warriors.
Miss Saigon will have its Australian premier in Melbourne on 29 March at Her Majesty’s Theatre. Set in 1975 during the final days leading up to the American evacuation of Saigon, MISS SAIGON is an epic love story about the relationship between an American GI and a young Vietnamese woman.
Seen by over 33 million people in over 25 countries and played in 12 different languages, the original production of MISS SAIGON ran for 16 sold out months in 1995 but only in Sydney as the show was simply too large to fit into any other Australian theatre. Rather than cut the show down in size, Cameron Mackintosh decided to the meet the challenge of creating something new. Boublil and Schönberg’s soaring score and story are the same as the famous original production with a new breath-taking design.
Tickets for Miss Saigon are available through Ticketek (www.ticketek.com.au) and Accor Hotel & Show (land only) packages are available through
