Be Tempted by the World's Biggest Food and Wine Festival
The Melbourne Food & Wine Festival will bring a festive feeling to Melbourne and regional Victoria, with events running throughout the state from 16-30 March, 2007.
Highlights include:
- The World's Longest Lunch (16 March) which will return to Melbourne around the boundary line at Telstra Dome.
- The Original MasterClass (24 & 25 March) at The Langham Hotel, Melbourne, with a large line up of international talent.
- Cellardoor at Southgate (24 & 25 March) with wineries such as Brown Brothers, Yering Station, Gapstead, T'Gallant and many more participating in a massive wine-tasting.
- The first ever International FLOUR Festival (24 March) with Melbourne and Victoria's best multicultural restaurants and makers of roti, pizza, noodles and dumplings - plus a great line-up of live entertainment. There will also be a dedicated micro-beer showcase in the Fed Square Atrium
- Wicked Sunday (25 March) a celebration of all things indulgent including the annual coffee festival, Celebrate the Bean at Fed Square. The Atrium will be transformed into a “Chocolate Precinct” with some of Victoria’s finest chocolates to taste, sample and purchase.
There is also plenty of food and wine action in Victoria’s regions with a host of Regional Worlds Longest Lunches to choose from. These include:
- The 2007 Macedon Ranges World’s Longest Lunch (March 16) which will have a distinct cool climate theme as local award winning pinot and chardonnay wine producers feature The event will be staged at the Hanging Rock Reserve. - Held amongst the vines at Bellarine Estate (16 March) The Bellarine World's Longest Lunch will highlight locally-grown foods prepared by chef Paul Twitchett from the Estate's restaurant, Julian's. To finish, house-made shiraz truffles and 'The Cure' fortified pinot noir. Entertainment will include roving local musicians, wine and food tastings, cooking demonstrations and a display of vintage vehicles. Tickets are $85.00 Adult.
