Glenrowan Township Master Plan Implementation

Bushranger Ned Kelly and the infamous Kelly Gang siege in Glenrowan in 1880 have become part of Australian folklore. The revitalisation of Glenrowan and the site of the siege is gaining momentum following the provision of a $1.8 million grant from the Victorian Government to undertake stage one works on site.

The first stage of the master plan includes the refurbishment of the heritage site, streetscape work within Glenrowan and high quality interpretive signage, which should be completed in 2007.

The next stage of the development will complete the vision for Glenrowan with the establishment of a nationally significant Ned Kelly Interpretive Centre overlooking the heritage siege precinct and ensuring Glenrowan is acknowledged as the ‘keeping place of the Kelly legend’.
