‘Life’s a dish’ in 12 Bendigo restaurants

Life's A Dish

‘Life’s a Dish’ is a novel idea to tempt lovers of fine regional food and wine to dine at one or more of 12 premier Bendigo restaurants and collect a souvenir plate to remind them of the experience.

The inspiration came from the Buon Ricordo, a program that began in 1964 in Northern Italy as a way to preserve traditional recipes and cooking techniques. Today the movement features more than 110 restaurants across Italy.

‘Life’s a Dish’ is a partnership between 12 Bendigo restaurants, the City of Greater Bendigo and Bendigo Pottery - Australia’s oldest working pottery – to highlight Bendigo as an emerging food destination.

Bendigo Pottery embraced ‘Life’s a Dish’ and produced 12 distinctive hand-painted plates to symbolise each restaurant. The featured artworks include signature dishes, distinguishing architectural features and nearby landmarks.

Restaurant patrons can now enjoy exquisite meals at the participating restaurants and then take home a colourful, hand-made souvenir plate to mark the occasion. The plates cost $19.95 each and will be a permanent reminder of the delicious meal they enjoyed in Bendigo.

Each restaurant visit will tempt diners to try the other ‘Life’s a Dish’ restaurants in Bendigo and collect more souvenir plates.

Bendigo’s chefs are celebrating the innovative ‘Life’s a Dish’ concept and are ready to share their passion for food by making dining in Bendigo something to be treasured and shared forever.
