Take a go-kart for a spin at Phillip Island's GP circuit

Go karts

The Phillip Island Go-Kart Track, now called Champ Karts, has been up-graded with 25 new high-powered rental go-karts and new state-of-the-art safety equipment.

The new fleet of Swiss Hutless karts are designed for the general public and are powered by 9hp Honda engines that can reach speeds of up to 70km/hr.

The new karts will appeal to both experienced and less experienced go-karters and to corporate groups.

The go-kart track has been upgraded with new curbs in the corners where karts might leave the circuit and with smooth run-off areas created to ensure karts are more easily controlled and do not leave the track. Tyre barriers are now also in place for superior protection and to stop karts hitting obstacles.

Go-kart enthusiasts who arrive at the circuit in holiday attire can hire full-face helmets, overalls and shoes and can even buy a pair of socks.

The famous Phillip Island Circuit has hosted some of the world's greatest motorcycle races and the go-kart track, located next door, is a to-scale replica of the main circuit. It enjoys stunning views of Bass Strait.

Champ Karts is located halfway between Cape Woolamai and the Nobbies and is open daily from 9am to 5pm in winter and from 9am to 6pm during daylight savings. Bookings are recommended for groups and during holidays.
