Follow the cheese and wine trail through Yarra Valley

Cheese trail

Enjoy a progressive picnic through the Yarra Valley with new self-drive Cheese and Wine Trails, which are designed to showcase the region's formidable local produce.

Choose between three trails, each incorporating four stops at some of the region's best wineries: Punt Road, Sticks, Coldstream Hills, Balgownie Estate, Whispering Hills and Seville Estate.

Before you begin, collect your picnic hamper from the award-winning Healesville Hotel, servicing the cellar doors of the Yarra Glen/Healesville area, or from actor John Wood's Yarra Valley Deli Wine Bar, servicing wineries in the Warburton/Seville area.

Picnic hampers contain four local cheeses, crackers, olives and dried fruit, as well as a cheese knife, board, napkins and a map with tasting notes. Participants then head out on a self drive tour of the cellar doors, where they will taste wines specifically matched to their cheeses.

The standard hamper costs $15 per head (minimum two people), with full picnic lunch hampers available soon for $35 to $50 a head.

The Yarra Valley Cheese and Wine Trail is based on the award-winning McLaren Vale Cheese and Wine Trail, which has been running from the Blessed Cheese café for the past four years.  It joins a growing network of cheese and wine experiences, under the banner of Cheese and Wine Trails Australia.
