New luxury accommodation springs up over the Mornington Peninsula

In seeming defiance of the trend towards lower cost ‘cheap and cheerful’ accommodation options, a series of new upmarket and luxury properties and a new luxury accommodation service have recently opened on the Mornington Peninsula at locations include Mt Martha, Rye and St Andrews Beach.

Glynt Manor (Mt Martha)
Glynt Manor (Mt Martha)
After being closed for over three years, Glynt Manor has reopened for business after a major refurbishment, with new owners, Demetri and Lila Sideropoulos offering visitors a chance to once again enjoy an unforgettable stay in one of one of Mornington Peninsula’s most iconic stately homes.

An old stone mansion originally built in 1917, the manor’s lavish Italian architecture and surrounding stately gardens radiate a quiet majesty that renders its nearby neighbours almost invisible, while primate location atop one of the highest points of Mount Martha afford a breathtaking view of sea and sky.

Ornate furnishings and antiques drawn from three continents add a distinctly international flavour to the luxury here.

Glynt Manor has just six suites, all individually themed, with one of the stand-outs being the tower suite where guests can enjoy an outdoor spa bath in the shadow of the mansions imposing turrets.

Look out for Lila and Demtri on television this month when the amazing story of the trials and tribulations of their ultimately victorious renovation of the mansion is captured in the five part SBS documentary series Demetri’s Castle.

Best Western Brooklands of Mornington
Another accommodation property that has undergone an impressive renovation is the Best Western Brooklands of Mornington. Current owners Maree and Paul Cartwright spent three years and $6 million on the refurbishment which included upgrading the existing suites, building an additional wing with an additional 19 rooms (bringing the total to 53), extending the size and guest capacity of their function area, as well as adding an indoor swimming pool and a gym. A new dayspa, run by Peninsula Medispa, will also soon open on site.

Istania (Mt Martha) - Situated in the exciting new Martha Cove Marina complex, Istania is a new three bedroom apartment billed as the ‘ultimate luxury marina experience’. As well as beachfront waterfront, Istania also features super-sleek interior design, swimming pool and gym and its own private marina berth

Aquabelle Apartments (Rye) Located directly opposite the beach foreshore in Rye, the recently opened Aquabelle Apartments offer the edge of a boutique hotel, the facilities of a glamour home and the convenience of being in the heart of the action. The Architect designed self-contained apartments offer all mod comms including LCD TV, Foxtel, DVD/CD player and Broadband ADSL access.

The Big Blue Backyard (St Andrews Beach) - Providing a secluded setting to unwind and relaxed, the Big Blue Backyard is comprises two ‘luxury hideaways’ nestled into a canopy of ti-trees’ – recently opened in St Andrews Beach. The accommodation is connected by boardwalk to the house of owners and professional caterers Paul and Lisa Dempsy, who also create delicious meals for their hideaway guests.

For those who want to see what other options are available, new Mornington Peninsula luxury accommodation specialist, Holiday Shacks, has a range of homes available at many different destinations including Mornington, Mt Martha, Red Hill, Rye, Blairgowrie, Flinders, McCrae, St Andrew’s, Portsea or Sorrento. The company can also provide you with ‘five star’ star service including luxury transfers to the Holiday Shack from anywhere in Melbourne, in-house catering using all local produce and wines and pampering packages.
