International John Lennon exhibition to be presented exclusively in Ballarat
The Art Gallery of Ballarat will be the exclusive Australian venue for John Lennon – Imagine!, an international exhibition of rare black and white photographs celebrating the life and times of John Lennon direct from Proud Galleries in London.
John Lennon - Imagine!, which opens on February 21, includes iconic images of Lennon from Dixie Dean, Jim Marchese, Terry O’Neill, Michael Peto and Barry Plummer, as well as intimate, personal images from Tom Hanley and Polly Moseley. The works by the latter two photographers are being exhibited for the first time in Australia as part of this exhibition.
A curated showcase of art from the 1960s and 70s, drawn from the gallery’s own collection will be exhibited alongside the Lennon photographs, providing a strong sense of mood and context of the art movements and visual imagery that was inspiring the Australian art scene during the ‘Lennon period’.
John Lennon – Imagine! will open on Saturday 21 February at the Art Gallery of Ballarat and run until Monday 13 April.
