ChillOut festival launches new travel guide to Daylesford Macedon Ranges

ChillOut 2009, Australia’s largest gay and lesbian celebration in rural and regional Australia, has launched Guide to ChillOut Country, a new travel guide to the Daylesford and Macedon Ranges region that provides tourist information especially for gay and lesbian visitors.
The new 100 page guide, which also incorporates the 2009 festival program, encourages travellers to expand their visit beyond the festival time and ‘discover some of the hidden gems of ChillOut Country’ and includes separate pages devoted to the key towns in the region including Creswick, Trentham, Clunes and Daylesford-Hepburn Springs.
Available for download from the Chillout website (www.chilloutfestival.com), and in print from gay venues and businesses around Melbourne, the guide contains comprehensive overviews of the area’s award-winning restaurants, boutique wineries and cellar doors, mineral spas, local art galleries, accommodation, outdoor activities and entertainment options.
The theme for Chillout 2009 is ‘Disco Stampede’, described as ‘a collision between 1980s disco and country hospitality or ‘like a rhinestone cowboy in satin dungarees!’
The highlights of this year’s festival include the ChillOut opening night party at the Palais in Hepburn Springs; the return by popular demand of the ChillOut Bush Dance and Carnival Day at Victoria Park, where Leo Sayer - in one of his first outings after becoming an Australian citizen - will headline the entertainment on the main stage.
The program also has lots of options for those wanting to further explore the Daylesford Macedon Ranges region during festival time, including bushwalking and mountain biking tours, the ChillOut golf tournament at the Hepburn Springs Golf Club and horseback rides.
