Rejoice in the Bendigo Summer Fiesta
Experience the best of Bendigo at the Bendigo Summer Fiesta, an annual 100-day celebration of the summer months. Bendigo will be abuzz with fabulous art, music, food and wine and cultural performances from December until March 2008.
Bendigo Art Gallery will showcase The Long Weekend: Australian Artists in France 1918 - 1939 throughout the Fiesta.This magnificent collection of works is exlusive to Bendigo and will feature artwork by Australian artists in France between the First and Second World Wars.
Music lovers will delight in the Bendigo Music Fiesta weekend. Bendigo's most glorious locations will be transformed with live music from some of Australia's best performers - such as Renee Geyer and Vika and Linda Bull who will play at Balgownie Estate Winery.
The Chinese New Year celebration will kick off in the second week of February. Chinese drum beats, traditional lion dances, cultural performances and a delicious Chinese banquet will create an atmosphere of celebration at the Chinese precinct beside the Golden Dragon Museum.
Also adding the eclectic array of summertime action in Bendigo is the monthly Bendigo Farmers' Market held on the third Saturday of each month. Discover locally-grown produce and meet the makers.
There's the Bendigo Olive Fiesta in early March showcasing locally-grown olives in a Mediterranean-style event.Cooking demonstrations and pip-spitting competitions are sure to add fun and excitement to this event.
The Bendigo Summer In The Parks program is a good reason to take a picnic along to one of Bendigo's public parks.Choose from live music, theatre or a movie as part of the highly-popular cinema under the stars program.
To wrap up the 100 days of celebrations, enjoy watching world-class cycling action at the Bendigo International Madison, held over the March long weekend. It is arguably the biggest cycling event in Australia and has a long and successful association with Bendigo.
