Tap your toes to the smooth sounds of summer at Victoria's Zoos
Head to Melbourne zoo this summer and sway to the cool sounds of some of Australia's leading bands, hitting the stage as part of Melbourne Zoo's annual Twilights series.
Artists returning to the zoo this summer will include Kate Ceberano, The Neil Diamond Super Hits Show, BABBA, Mark Seymour, The Moovin' & Groovin' Orchestra, Daryl Braithwaite, Vika and Linda, Frankie J. Holden and Wilbur Wilde in 'On the Prowl', James Reyne and Stayin' Alive - the Australian Bee Gees Show. Ella and Jesse Hooper from 'Killing Heidi' will return to the Zoo in their new band, 'Verses'.
Artists performing at the zoo for the first time this summer will include: the Choir of Hard Knocks; Jamie Robbie Reyne and The Paradise Three; 'Borne'; Nick Barker,; Kutcha Edwards; Ella Thomson and Band; Bobby Flynn and Band; Tinpan Orange; and Belle Roscoe.
Entertainment begins at 6:30pm on Zoo Twilights evenings, with most of the Zoo wildlife on view until 7:30pm.There will be special Keeper Talks between 5pm and 6:30pm.
The Zoo Twilights will run on Saturday and Sunday evenings through to 16 March, with an additional Thursday evening concert on 14 February to celebrate Valentine's Day.
There will be a wide choice of food and drinks available on Zoo Twilights evenings, from the barbecue to the pizza oven.
Zoo Twilights tickets provide zoo admission for the day, plus access to the concert lawns from 4:30pm.Tickets are available from the Ticketmaster website - www.ticketmaster.com.au, by phone on 136 100, or at Ticketmaster outlets.
The wonderful Werribee Open Range Zoo twilight event series Rhythm of Africa is just the thing to get the toes tapping.
Rhythm of Africa is set against the stunning backdrop of the Werribee Open Range Zoo, giving visitors the unique opportunity to experience a taste of Africa in Victoria. Entry to Rhythm of Africa is included in the general admission price and starts at 5.30pm with the last safari tour departing at 7pm and the zoo closing at 9pm.
Rhythm of Africa runs on Saturdays and Sundays until 9 March 2008.
