Spiegelworld at Australian Open
Tennis Australia has added a new major ‘festival’ program of live entertainment to complement tennis action at the 2009 Australian Open, which will include the Australian premiere appearance of Spiegelworld, direct from New York City. This ultra-cool carnival village - which features the beautiful and historic European spiegeltent at the centre - will be taking over The Oval along Swan Street.
Spiegelworld will offer a brilliant program of cabaret, circus and concerts including the daring circus-meets-burlesque variety show direct from New York City, Absinthe and an “Open Late” concert series of intimate performances from Australia’s most popular artists including Claire Bowditch, Renee Geyer, Tex Perkins, and The Audreys.
Taking place at locations within Melbourne Park every day from January 19 to February 1, many live entertainment events will be available free to anyone attending the Australian Open who hold a series package, single session ticket or ground pass. Tennis-goers can also purchase tickets for various premium shows and concerts as an add-on to their tennis ticket.
The final weekend of the 2009 Australian Open will culminate in A Day on the Baseline, two sensational double headline act concerts to be held at Hisense Arena featuring Pete Murray and Evermore on the Saturday, multi-ARIA award winner Gabriella Cilmi and The Cat Empire will perform on the Sunday.
