Spring into nature at Waterholes
Enjoy Spring in all its glory with Gippsland High Country Tours. They are offering two special packages for Spring, designed for nature-lovers who enjoy walking in the wilderness without forsaking their creature comforts!
Walkers will be guided through the beautiful surrounds of the luxurious Waterholes Guesthouse near Bairnsdale in East Gippsland, where guests stay for three nights, and witness the amazing regeneration of the flora and fauna following the bushfires which ravaged the area last summer. Tour-guide Jenny Edwards will share her knowledge of the bush with guests and explain how nature reacts to fires.
The bushfires also uncovered evidence of past goldmining activity at nearby Deptford. Walkers will be guided along tracks used by miners over a 100 years ago to discover relics once hidden in the bush.
There are two tours on offer - Spring into nature at Waterholes (September 24-27) which is a slow-pace ecotour with short easy walks, while Walking from Waterholes (October 8-11) which is slightly more energetic, offering full day walks.
Fares are $990 ex. Bairnsdale or $1060 ex. Melbourne which includes travel from departure point, all accommodation and meals plus expertise of local ecotour guide. Note that ex. Melbourne fare includes first class V/Line travel from Melbourne to Bairnsdale.
Group sizes are small with no more than eight participants, so guests can enjoy a very personalised ecotour.
